2010 Wall of Fame Inductees Updated 6/22/2010

The Mimico Lacrosse Wall of Fame welcomed their newest members on Satuday June the 5th.


Player Category - Don "Scotty" McPhail

 Honoured Member - Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame - 1973

 Charter Member - Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Don McPhail was a highly skilled player that played his first senior game for Mimico at the age of 18 years old. He established himself as a expert in face-offs. He played Senior in Mimico for 11 years and also played for Toronto, West York and Orillia before returning to Mimico for one last senior season in 1956 at the age of 34 years old. In 1949 he won the MVP award for the Ontario Senior Lacrosse League and in 1951 was the Ontario Scoring Champion. He was a member of the Mann Cup Championship teams in 1947 and 1951. After retiring form Playing Lacrosse he was very involved with the Mimico Minor Lacrosse Club and one of his favourite sayings "Get Up Kid, that is a long way from your heart" Please welcome Posthumously to the Mimico Lacrosse Wall of Fame in the Player's category, Don "Scotty" McPhail.


Builder Category - Doug "Doc" Holyday

Doug Holyday is a long time supporter of the Mimico Lacrosse Club, he was also the President of the Lakeshore Maple Leafs Junior "A" team which was the last South Etobicoke team to win the Minto Cup in 1970. This team was comprised of players from Mimico, Long Branch and Alderwood Lacrosse Associations.

He has been very supportive of the Mimico Lacrosse Associations and is the Last Mayor of the  Great City of Etobicoke, Please Welcome into the Builders Category of the Mimico Lacrosse Wall of Fame, Mr. Doug "Doc" Holyday.


Builder Category - Morley Kells

Honoured Member - Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame - 1978

Charter Member - Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Morley Kells is a life long resident of Etobicoke, he was a member of the 1955 Minto Cup Champion Long Branch Monarchs, he coached Lacrosse throughout the sixties and seventies. In 1972 he started the semi-pro Ontario Lacrosse Association and in 1974 he co-founded the National Lacrosse League with 6 teams in Canada and the United States.  In recognition to his contribution to sports, he received the Lester B. Pearson award in 1973. He culminated his involvement in Lacrosse in 1978 when he was inducted into the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame in the Builders Category.  Please welcome to the Mimico Lacrosse Wall of Fame in the Builders Category, Mr. Morley Kells.

MIMICO LACROSSE WALL OF FAME Updated 6/22/2010

In conjunction with Mimico Minor Lacrosse, the Junior Mountaineer Executive wanted to honour those players and builders that made extra ordinary contributions to Mimico Lacrosse.  In 2008,  the Mimico Wall of Fame was formed as a vehicle to recognize our 119 year history , its volunteers and great players that have shaped the club today.
